Who We Are

The cost of occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities — both in human and economic terms — is enormous. On the front lines of serving businesses and protecting workers are our 40 regional centers dedicated to promoting occupational health and safety (OHS) across the U.S.

Centers for Agricultural Safety and Health

Workers in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing industries are the backbone of America, yet they face significant dangers, including an occupational fatality rate roughly five times higher than that of any other sector. The 12 regional Centers for Agricultural Safety and Health exist to address these challenges through research and real-world collaborations with workers, businesses, and other stakeholders in these industries across America.

Centers of Excellence for Total Worker Health

The 10 regional Centers of Excellence in Total Worker Health address the health, safety, and well-being of workers across industries through a distinct lens in which work is recognized as having a significant role in a person’s health and well-being. The centers conduct multidisciplinary research built on that concept and engage workers and businesses nationwide to implement solutions that enable a healthy, engaged, and productive workforce.

Education and Research Centers (ERCs)

The 18 regional Education and Research Centers train the thousands of occupational health and safety professionals whom businesses across the U.S. rely on to protect their workers and reduce the massive cost burden of work-related injuries and fatalities. These centers also serve as regional health and safety hubs, collaborating with industry, businesses, and professional associations to conduct research and equip workers and businesses with knowledge and resources.
